Egypt GOEIC Certificate of Inspection (COI)

The Certificate of Inspection (COI) is required for 24 categories of regulated goods exported to Egypt, including food and food contact materials under NFSA oversight. Without a COI, regulated products cannot legally enter the Egyptian market.

Egypt’s COI conformity requirement

Egypt’s Certificate of Inspection (COI) is a quality and safety verification issued by a GOEIC-authorised certification body before regulated goods can be exported to Egypt. The scheme is based on international requirements to ensure product quality and safety, with additional NFSA oversight for food and food contact materials.

Programme name

Certificate of Inspection (COI), implemented by GOEIC for industrial and consumer products, and by the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) for food and food-contact materials.

Products covered

The scheme covers 24 product categories, including:

Food and beverages (canned food, soft drinks, milk, mineral water, etc.)

Textiles, leather goods, luggage and footwear (garments, fabric, leather shoes, bags, sports shoes, rubber boots, safety footwear)

For food and food-contact materials, NFSA additionally covers meat and products, poultry, dairy products, nuts, grains, spices, beverages of all categories, table water, oils and fats, food additives, sauces, condiments, chocolate, fish and seafood, eggs, tea, coffee, fruit juices and concentrates, baked and ready-to-eat foods, and food-contact materials.
