What the Construction Products Regulation covers
The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) 305/2011/EU is the new construction products regulation issued by the EU on 9 March 2011 and announced to enter mandatory enforcement in July 2013. It replaces the earlier Construction Products Directive (CPD) 89/106/EEC. The new regulation makes the procedural requirements and technical language for construction products entering the EU market more transparent, rigorous and precise, helping EU users such as architects, engineers and construction personnel to select products suited to the intended use of a construction work. Member states use the CPR to coordinate construction product standards, so that buildings and civil engineering works within their territory do not endanger the safety of people, livestock or property. The CPR also relates to health, service life, energy saving, environmental protection, economic factors and other public interests.
