Burundi PVoC Certificate of Conformity

Since 15 March 2014, the Bureau Burundais de Normalisation (BBN) requires all regulated imports to obtain a pre-shipment Certificate of Conformity (CoC) under the Burundi PVoC programme. Exporters should confirm the current scope with Burundi Customs before shipping.

Burundi’s CoC conformity requirement

Since 15 March 2014, the Bureau Burundais de Normalisation (BBN) has implemented a pre-shipment conformity assessment programme for all regulated products imported into Burundi. A Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is issued to confirm that the goods comply with the applicable Burundian and international standards.

Programme name

Burundi PVoC — Certificate of Conformity (CoC), administered by the Bureau Burundais de Normalisation (BBN).

Products covered

All regulated products under the schedule of the BBN PVoC programme. Exporters should verify the current scope with BBN before shipment.

Regulatory basis

Implemented by the Bureau Burundais de Normalisation (BBN), aligned with Article 5 of the WTO TBT Agreement. The programme is designed to ensure products meet applicable technical regulations and mandatory (or equivalent) standards, protect Burundian consumers in quality, hygiene, safety and environmental aspects, and prevent non-conforming or counterfeit products from entering Burundi.
